Metro Manila, Philippines – Jeus Yape gave the country its fourth gold medal in the 20th Asian Games after ruling the mixed individual virtual taekwondo on Friday, Oct. 2, at the Toyohashi Gymnasium in Japan.
Yape defeated Vietnam’s Chau Ngoc Tuyet Sang, 2-0, in an event that made its debut in this edition of the Games.
He earlier nabbed bronze in the men’s individual poomsae on Thursday. He joined gymnast Carlos Yulo as the Filipino athletes with multiple medals in the quadrennial meet.
The Philippines medal haul now stands at 23 for 15th place in the standings.
