Metro Manila, Philippines — Air quality in several parts of Metro Manila reached “very unhealthy” to “acutely unhealthy” levels on Tuesday, Sept. 1, as smoke and haze from ongoing wildfires in Kalimantan, Indonesia, reached the Philippines.
The latest 9 a.m. monitoring data from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Environmental Management Bureau National Capital Region showed the following PM2.5 classifications:
Very unhealthy:
– Makati
– Navotas
– Pateros
– Quezon City (SMPH Commonwealth)
Acutely unhealthy:
– Las Piñas
– Malabon
– Mandaluyong
– Manila
– Marikina (Parang)
– Muntinlupa (Filinvest City)
– Parañaque (Don Bosco)
– San Juan
– Taguig (TUP)
– Valenzuela
Residents are urged to reduce outdoor activities, particularly those belonging to vulnerable groups, and to monitor air quality updates in their respective areas.
