Metro Manila, Philippines – Marvel Studios has unveiled the first wave of stars joining its upcoming X-Men movie, with Sadie Sink, Kit Connor and Adam Driver among the actors set to bring the mutant superheroes and villains into a new era.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced the cast during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, where Sink appeared alongside director Jake Schreier.
Sink will play Jean Grey, following her debut as the character in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
“It is so wonderful to be here and to finally be able to talk about this character after months of speculation,” Sink told the crowd.
“We’re here to talk about the X-Men. Should we meet some more of the cast?” she added.
Marvel then revealed five more members of the team: Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm.
Adam Driver also joined the announcement through a video from Pinewood Studios, revealing he will play Nathaniel Milbury, a name with potentially sinister implications in the X-Men universe.
“When Kevin told me to show up for X-Men, I assumed he meant on set,” Driver joked.
“Kevin and I have been talking for years about maybe joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And I think we finally found the perfect film at the perfect time,” he said.
Driver then teased his character by appearing to begin saying another name before stopping himself.
“So I’m very excited to be playing Mag…. Nope. Even better. Nathaniel Milbury,” he said.
Feige said more casting announcements are still coming, with several of the newly announced stars meeting one another for the first time backstage at D23.
Schreier will direct the still-untitled film after previously helming Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*.
The new X-Men movie is scheduled to open exclusively in theaters on May 5, 2028.
