Metro Manila, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. received the credentials of United States Ambassador-designate Lee Lipton, as the two countries reaffirmed their longstanding alliance and vowed to deepen cooperation on defense, security, economic ties and regional stability.
The presentation of credentials at Malacañang on Tuesday, June 30, marked the beginning of Lipton’s diplomatic mission.
Manila and Washington mark 80 years of diplomatic relations and the 75th anniversary of the Mutual Defense Treaty, milestones that underscore one of the Philippines’ most important strategic partnerships.
Marcos and Lipton exchanged views on economic cooperation, defense and security, maritime affairs, regional developments and the Philippines’ ASEAN chairmanship.
“The Philippines values its enduring alliance with the United States and the many opportunities it continues to create for our people,” Marcos said in a social media post.
“I was pleased to receive the credentials of Ambassador-designate Lee Lipton as we work together to advance our shared goals of peace, prosperity and regional stability,” he added.
The Palace said more opportunities for collaboration are expected as the Philippines and United States continue expanding cooperation across strategic, economic and people-to-people initiatives.
