Metro Manila, Philippines – X-Men ’97 will return for a second season on Disney+ on July 1, Marvel Animation announced.
The Emmy-nominated series, which revisits the classic X-Men animated show, was among the most-watched Disney+ original animated titles globally during its first season and currently holds a 99% “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Season 2 follows the mutant team as they are scattered across different time periods and struggle to find their way back home. In the 1990s timeline, new threats emerge as anti-mutant sentiment grows in the absence of the X-Men.
The upcoming season will have nine episodes and feature a returning voice cast led by Ross Marquand as Professor X, Matthew Waterson as Magneto, Ray Chase as Cyclops, and Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey.
Also reprising their roles are Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Lenore Zann as Rogue, and George Buza as Beast.
The series is executive produced by Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, Julia Lewald, Eric Lewald, Larry Houston, and Beau DeMayo.
Jake Castorena serves as supervising producer, with episodes written by JB Ballard, DeMayo, Bailey Moore, Antony Sellitti, Brian Ford Sullivan, and Mariah Wilson. Emmett Yonemura and Chase Conley direct the episodes.
