VP Duterte gov’t caretaker during Marcos’ Japan trip

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 16) — Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday said she will preside as chairperson of the Executive Committee meetings in Davao City while President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is in Japan for the 50th ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation Summit.

In a brief statement, the vice president said she will hold office at the Department of Education National Educators’ Academy of the Philippines Davao and Office of the Vice President Davao Satellite office.
Marcos on Friday left for Tokyo along with his economic team and will return on Monday, Oct. 18.
Among the president’s agenda in Japan is to convince other Asian leaders, particularly the members of the Asia Zero Emission Community, to invest in the country’s renewable energy industry.
