Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 29) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on Wednesday said two reclamation projects in Pasay City were cleared to resume operations after having complied with the requirements of the agency.
“There were several technical conferences called because there were some findings and observations,” said Environment Secretary Toni Yulo-Loyzaga during a Malacañang briefing.
“And after they complied with what was required, documentation-wise and then review-wise as well overall, the DENR actually submitted our report, and they have in fact substantially complied,” she added.
It was earlier reported that the Pasay Eco City Development project has secured permission to resume operations despite an earlier suspension order on reclamation projects issued in August by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The project includes the 265-hectare Pasay Harbor City Reclamation Project and 360-hectare Pasay Reclamation Project.
CNN Philippines has reached out to the Pasay City government, Office of the President, and the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) to confirm the reports.
But the DENR chief noted that the agency’s power is limited to “evaluate and assess compliance” as the lifting of suspension is up to the PRA.
“We do not suspend, we do not lift the suspension, that is a matter for the PRA,” said Loyzaga.
