Paul Soriano no longer pres’l adviser for creative communications, Palace confirms

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 9) – Malacañang confirmed on Thursday that film and television director Paul Soriano has resigned as presidential adviser on creative communications.

“Presidential Adviser Paul Soriano took a well-deserved break to spend time with his family and newborn daughter,” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cheloy Garafil said. “He has since submitted his resignation to prioritize his personal commitments.”

\”There is no replacement for the role of Presidential Adviser on Creative Communications for now,\” she added.

Senator Sonny Angara was first to reveal the news during the Office of the President’s (OP) budget deliberation on Thursday.

Angara, the OP’s budget sponsor, said this after Minority Leader. Sen. Koko Pimentel asked if the office or its advisers were responsible for the “We give the world our best. The Philippines” ad campaign which was featured on buses in the United Kingdom earlier this year.
The campaign was launched under Soriano’s tenure as creative communications adviser, according to Angara.
However, Angara did not disclose why Soriano no longer held the post, or when he was removed from it.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Soriano to the advisory position in October last year.

The filmmaker, who directed Marcos’ first State of the Nation Address and his presidential campaign commercials, agreed to be paid just ₱1 annually as salary.
