Anchored vessel in Sorsogon catches fire – PCG

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 2) — An anchored cargo vessel at the vicinity waters off the town of Castilla in Sorsogon caught fire on Thursday morning, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

The PCG also said the eight crew members of MV Ken, a cargo vessel by Pherwin Shipping Corporation based in Camarines Sur, were all found safe.

The Bureau of Fire Protection declared fire out at around 3:02 p.m, the PCG said.

The crew members told investigators that the fire started from the vessel’s mess hall, the PCG also said.
Meanwhile, the Port of Castilla said it received information that the boat’s captain was not onboard at the time of incident.
