Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 13) — Members of British-Norwegian boy group A1 shared their secret on how they maintained a strong bond even after 25 years in the industry.
“It’s quite hard to be in a band of four very, very different personalities and to be able to sustain that level of professionalism for 25 plus years,” A1’s Mark Read told CNN Philippines’ New Day. “So I just think it’s a mutual, a lot of things that we have in common with each other that keep us together and keep us strong,”
A1’s Christian Ingebrigtsen said it was the gratitude the group has for its fans that helped it continue.
“When we were here 20 years ago, we were always rushing to the next thing…We took it for granted. And now as we’ve grown older, we’ve learned to really appreciate it and be grateful,” he said.
Another member Paul Marazzi said it is their enduring love for music that kept them going. He added this passion helped in their songwriting process as it allowed them to make music exactly the way they wanted to.
Read described A1’s music in the 90s as young and naive. Now that they have grown older, he said their songs talk more about the members’ life experiences.
The group recently dropped its single “Call Me When You Land” which was written after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We realized how much we missed just being able to hug the people that we love and how important it is to while we have the chance we should really treasure the moments,” Ingebrigtsen said.
A1 held a concert in Davao City on Oct. 12, which will be followed by a stop in Cebu City on Oct. 13. The group will end its Philippine tour in Quezon City at the New Frontier Theater with a two-day concert on Oct. 14 and 15.
Member Ben Adams expressed appreciation to the group’s Filipino fans for always warmly welcoming them.
