Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 16) – The state weather bureau said a low pressure area (LPA) formed outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), just a day after Tropical Storm “Dodong” left the weather monitoring area.

It could develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned in its latest bulletin.
Originally a cloud cluster, it developed into an LPA and as of 3 p.m. on Sunday, the weather system was seen 1,265 kilometers east of Mindanao and outside PAR, PAGASA said.
If it intensifies into a tropical cyclone and enters PAR, it will be given the name “Egay,” the fifth storm to enter the country in 2023 and the second for the month of July.
