Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 2) – The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 reverted to being a domestic airport starting July 1.
The transfer of domestic flights back to Terminal 2 is part of the Terminal Assignment Rationalization Program, which aims to address congestion at the NAIA.
All domestic flights of AirAsia Philippines moved to Terminal 2 while the domestic flights of Cebu Pacific will remain at Terminals 3 and 4 for the meantime while the expansion of Terminal 2 is ongoing, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said in a Facebook post.
Royal Air Philippines transferred its domestic flights from Terminal 4 to Terminal 2.
Last June 16, Philippine Airlines relocated its international flights to Terminal 1.

Meanwhile, the operations of Cebgo, AirSWIFT and Sunlight Air were transferred to Terminal 4.
Terminal 3 now houses Jetstar Asia, Jetstar Japan, China Southern Airlines, Scoot, and STARLUX Airlines, Gulf Air, Thai Airways, Jeju Air, and Ethiopian Airlines.
Bryan Co, general manager of MIAA, earlier said Terminal 2 was originally built for domestic flights.
“Kung napansin niyo, when you arrive [para] sa international flights [sa Terminal 2], ang mga pasilidad ay medyo masikip dahil linagyan lang po ng mga immigration, customs area,” he said

“By doing this (terminal reassignment), we’re making the terminal design in accordance to what it is intended for, at mag i-increase din ang ating terminal capacity sa Terminal 2 by 20% to 25% [and the capacity of Terminal 2 will increase by 20% to 25%] because it will be dedicated for only domestic flights,” he added.
