KWF says FB page hacked; obscene photos posted

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 16) — The Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) said its Facebook page, where photos of scantily clad women were recently posted, has been the target of a cyberattack.

KWF Director General Marites Barrios-Taran apologized late Thursday night in a statement after an obscene image of a lady, whose face wasn’t entirely visible, was published as a Facebook story on the agency’s page.

[Translation: This evening, the official Facebook account of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino fell victim to cyber/network attack, particularly a malware that we suspect entered the system and was designed to damage the KWF’s good name. We sincerely apologize and ask for your understanding on the matter.]

The director general said the commission has already sought the help of the National Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Information and Communications Technology in going after the hacker.
