Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 11) — Authorities are on the lookout for a new party drug monitored in other Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand and Myanmar from entering the country, police said Thursday.
According to the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), a potent party drug called \”“happy water\” could have lethal effects on those who ingest it.
\”Ito ay isang kumbinasyon ng iba’t ibang klaseng synthetic substances like shabu, ecstasy, diazepam, ketamine and tramadol. Ito naman ay base sa findings actually ng UN ODC [United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime] based sa report nila that was published only last year May 30, 2022,\” said PDEG Director PBGen. Antonio Olaguera.
\”Itong droga na ito accordingly ay nakita or namonitor right now doon sa bansa ng Thailand at Myanmar. Ang isang pakete nito will cost around $43 (around ₱2,400),\” he added.
[Translation: This is a combination of different synthetic drugs like shabu, ecstasy, diazepam, ketamine, and tramadol. This is based on the findings of the UN ODC from last year May 30, 2022. This drug was monitored in Thailand and Myanmar. A pack will cost around $43.]
Olaguera said happy water comes in different forms.
\”Puwedeng powder, puwedeng in liquid form kaya tinatawag ito na cocktail or beverage. So pwede ito ilagay or ihalo sa isang liquid bottle or mineral water, juice or even food pwede kasi it’s odorless, colorless kaya pwedeng gawin yun,\” said Olaguera.
[Translation: It can be powder or liquid, which is why it’s called a cocktail or beverage. It can be mixed with a liquid bottle, mineral water, juice, or food because it’s odorless and colorless.]
It can also be used to intoxicate unsuspecting victims.
\”Napakadelikado sa mga partygoers especially women kasi pumunta ka ng CR ka sandali, you never know baka may naglagay na sa inumin mo ng ganun or sa kinakain mo, naka-serve sa table mo,\” Olaguera added.
[Translation: It’s dangerous to partygoers, especially women, because if you go to the restroom, someone might mix it into your drinks or food.]
