
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 8) — The country logged 9,465 new COVID-19 cases from May 1 to 7, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
In its weekly bulletin, the DOH reported an average of 1,352 daily cases, reflecting a 112% increase from April 24 to 30.
Of the new infections, 50 are in critical condition. Meanwhile, 9 deaths were recorded from April 24 to May 7.
The DOH also said 78 million individuals were already vaccinated against COVID-19 while 23 million received their booster shots.
On Sunday, OCTA Research fellow Guido David said Metro Manila increased its positivity rate from 17.2% to 22.7%.
According to figures dated May 6, high positivity rates were also reported in Batangas, Bulacan, Camarines Sur, Cavite, Isabela, Laguna and Rizal, where levels are more than 20%.
