Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 3) — The country recorded 1,721 new COVID-19 cases from March 27 to April 2, the Department of Health (DOH) reported in its weekly bulletin.
The average daily number of new infections was 246, reflecting a 33% increase from the previous week.
Of the new cases, the DOH said there were 13 in critical condition. Meanwhile, 347 critical patients are in hospitals, representing 9.3% of the total COVID-19 admissions nationwide.
Health officials also verified 58 deaths due to COVID-19. All of them were fatalities from 2020 to 2022.
The country’s total confirmed cases stood at 4.08 million, with 9,080 active cases. At least 4 million have recovered while over 66,000 succumbed to the disease.
More than 78 million individuals, or 100.44% of the target population, have been vaccinated against COVID-19 while 23 million have already received their booster shots.
