Marcos orders establishment of Philippine Heart Center in Pampanga

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 10) — President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. has directed the establishment of the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) Annex in Clark, Pampanga.

According to Executive Order (EO) 19, the Philippine Heart Center is tasked to establish, manage and administer the annex, which will be built in the Clark Freeport Zone.

Like the main hospital, the PHC Clark will specialize in “medical services for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.”

The new hospital’s development plan will also be in line with the Philippine Health Facility Development Plan 2020-2040, which was created for the needed health facilities, resources and finances in the medium to long-term.

According to the EO, the budget for the establishment and continued operations of the PHC Clark will come from the available appropriations of the Department of Health.

It can also come from the annual corporate operating budget of the PHC but the EO said it is still “subject to the pertinent budgeting, accounting and auditing rules and regulations.”

Additional funding may also be sourced from agreements between PHC and other government agencies for the purpose of establishing and operating the PHC Clark.
