DOJ: ₱6-million reward offered for info on culprits in missing cockfight enthusiasts’ case

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 14) — The government is offering a ₱6-million reward to anyone who could provide information on the six culprits in the missing cockfight enthusiasts’ case.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla announced it on Monday after meeting with the victims’ families at the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Manila.

In a Facebook post, Remulla said the reward is part of the DOJ’s efforts to track down the culprits, but he did not say where the fund will come from.

Remulla also assured the families of the victims that justice will be served.

Asked about any breakthrough on the case, Remulla appealed for patience, saying that cases such as these cannot be solved overnight.

He also said no mastermind could be pinpointed yet but there are speculations.

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group created a special investigation task group to look into the abduction of 34 cockfight enthusiasts in Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, and Batangas in 2021.

DOJ prosecutors earlier found probable cause to file kidnapping and robbery charges against three out of the five policemen allegedly involved in the abduction of the e-sabong master agent.
