Firecracker-related injuries now at 277

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 4) — Four days into 2023, firecracker-related injuries in New Year revelry continued to climb with 15 more cases, raising the total to 277.

The Department of Health (DOH) said Wednesday that the number of such injuries is 49% higher compared to 2021, when there were 186 cases.

DOH also recorded a total of 77 cases of eye injuries and 17 cases of blast or burn injuries resulting in amputation.

There were no reported cases of fireworks ingestion and deaths, and no additional incidents of stray bullets aside from one elderly woman earlier injured in Manila.
