
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 8) — The Department of Health (DOH) said the country recorded 27,331 fresh COVID-19 cases from August 1 to 7. That’s 13% higher than the previous week.
The weekly bulletin released Monday also showed the country’s daily average, reaching 3,904 new infections.
Of the new cases, 76 are in severe and critical condition. It added that 772 patients with critical infections are currently admitted at hospitals.
The department also confirmed 80 new deaths, 32 of which occurred from July 25 to August 7.
The vaccination coverage rate for the target general population has reached 92.06%. For the target elderly population, it’s 77.90%.
Over 16.6 million Filipinos have been boosted against COVID-19.
Based on the DOH’s COVID-19 tracker, the Philippines recorded 4,203 new infections on Monday, Aug. 8.
This brings the total number of COVID cases in the country to over 3.8 million. Active cases, meanwhile, now stand at 37,942.
