
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — A 30-second audio recording from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will signal the start of the metro-wide shake drill on Thursday (July 30).
The MMDA posted the audio file of the recording on its Twitter account and said that it will also be played in public announcement systems.

Expected to participate in the Metro Manila Shake Drill are various government agencies, businesses, schools, and private organizations.
It will start at 10:30 a.m. and will last for one hour.
According to the MMDA, the activity aims to provide participants with a “real-world training scenario in preparation for a possible earthquake in Metro Manila.”
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino added that the agency is ready for any untoward incident during the drill, with ambulances and emergency teams on standby.
He also claimed that they have recorded more than 700,000 volunteers as of Monday (July 27).
