Zamboanga City (CNN Philippines) — Zamboanga Mayor Beng Climaco announced the suspension of classes shortly before 9 a.m. today (July 2) due to heavy rain in Zamboanga City.
In a public advisory by City Hall, the mayor ordered the suspension of classes in basic education, kinder, elementary and secondary in all public and private schools in the city effective immediately.
However, teachers and parents are cautioned not to fetch or send children at this time as the weather escalates to stronger winds and rain.
For the college level, declaration is at the discretion of school officials.
Emergency numbers of the City Disaster Risk Reduction And Management Office (CDRRMO) were provided.
This is the third day of suspension of classes in Zamboanga city due to heavy rain.
