Metro Manila, Philippines - Ray Allen Torres knocked down the game-winning three-point shot as the Adamson University Soaring Falcons shocked the reigning champions University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 62-59, in the UAAP Season 88 men's basketball tournament on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion in Manila.

Torres buried the clutch triple with 2.8 seconds left in the final period. He had 10 points and two rebounds for the Soaring Falcons.

This was the first victory of Adamson over the Fighting Maroons since Season 84 in 2022, while also sending UP to its first 0-2 start since Season 79 in 2016.

Anthony Fransman was the other Soaring Falcons player who scored in double digits with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Gerry Abadiano tallied a game-high 15 points and two rebounds, while Harold Alarcon finished with 12 points and six rebounds for UP.

Adamson will next tackle the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles on Sept. 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, while the Fighting Maroons hope to end their slump against the University of the East Red Warriors on the same day.
