17 Luzon areas under Signal No. 1 due to TD ‘Mirasol’
Metro Manila, Philippines - The state weather bureau said that 17 areas in Luzon are placed under Signal No. 1 on Wednesday, Sept. 17 due to Tropical Depression Mirasol.
In its 2 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the lowest storm level is hoisted in the following areas:
+Batanes
+Cagayan including Babuyan Islands
+Isabela
+Quirino
+Nueva Vizcaya
+northern and central portions of Aurora
+Apayao
+Abra
+Kalinga,
+Mountain Province
+Ifugao
+Benguet
+Ilocos Norte
+Ilocos Sur
+La Union
+northeastern portion of Pangasinan
+northern portion of Nueva Ecija
PAGASA warned of strong winds with minimal to minor impacts.
The weather bureau said that heavy to intense rains are expected over Cagayan and Isabela on Wednesday to Thursday noon, Sept. 18.
“As it continues to move northwest, it will intensify once it makes its landfall in Ilocos Norte. From tropical depression, this will develop into a tropical storm,” PAGASA said.
“Mirasol” was last spotted in the vicinity of Tanudan, Kalinga as it continues to move northwestward at 15km/h.
It is expected that “Mirasol” will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning, Sept. 18.
“Mirasol” developed into a tropical depression at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
