PrimeWater open to resolve service issues with regulator
Metro Manila, Philippines - Villar-owned utility PrimeWater Infrastructure Corporation said on Friday, May 2, it is open to discussions with the regulator to resolve issues hounding its service.
The company pledged to cooperate with the Local Water Utilities Administration which is handling the investigation of PrimeWater’s supposed poor service. The agency oversees water utilities in areas outside Metro Manila.
"We assure our public that we are intensifying our initiatives to address the requirements and satisfy the demand particularly those in challenged service areas," PrimeWater said in a statement.
“Rest assured that we remain fully committed to fulfilling our obligations with our partners to deliver the long-term improvements necessary for a stable, reliable, and sustainable water in our service areas,” it added.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered for the probe amid complaints of PrimeWater’s high rates despite inconsistent water supply and poor service restoration after outages.
Vice President Sara Duterte said the probe may be politically motivated as she endorsed the senatorial bid of Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar, among the administration’s bets. Malacañang denied the allegation.
House Assistant Majority Leader Jay Khonghun earlier said he will seek a congressional inquiry on the matter.
