Metro Manila, Philippines - Alex Eala and Coco Gauff advanced to the quarterfinal of the 2025 Italian Open women's doubles after defeating hometown bets Tyra Grant and Lisa Pigato, 6-2, 6-3, in their round-of-16 match on Tuesday.

Eala and Gauff came out firing early with a 3-0 lead in the opening frame, which would set the tone for the rest of the contest.

The 17-year-old Grant and 21-year-old Pigato fought their way back and tied the score at 3-all in the second set, but the experience of Eala and Gauff proved to be the difference as they were more composed in securing the victory.

It was the second straight win for the Filipino ace Eala and American star Gauff, who also swept Alexandra Panova of Russia and Fanny Stollar of Hungary, 6-3, 6-1, in the opening round.

Eala and Gauff will battle the defending Italian pair champions Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani in the quarterfinal on May 14.
