Metro Manila, Philippines - Foreign service posts in China have launched an electronic visa (eVisa) system for Chinese nationals entering the country for business or tourism.

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies marked the event in eight cities, namely, Beijing, Chongqing, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macau, Shanghai, and Xiamen - a major step in digitizing consular services and improving travel experience.

The eVisa is in partnership with VFS Global, a provider of technology services for governments and diplomatic missions worldwide.

“We welcome this development. It will boost tourist arrivals and benefit our people who work in the hospitality sector,” said Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime FlorCruz said in a message to Newswatch Plus. “It aligns with our government’s goal to promote tourism and people-to-people exchanges.”

The eVisa allows online applications round the clock, seven days a week. It is non-convertible and non-extendable, valid for a 14-day stay, with designated entry points at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila and Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

FlorCruz said this is in line with the president’s directive to modernize public service delivery and enhance visitor experience, adding that the program complements recent tourism achievements, including the Philippines’ Island Charm Award at the 2025 Beijing International Diving & Resort Travel Expo.

Chinese nationals may apply for an eVisa through the VFS global website. Visitors opting to stay beyond 14 days or entering through other ports may apply for conventional visas at VFS Global centers across China.
