PH Asian Youth Games medalists to receive cash incentives
Metro Manila, Philippines - Filipino medalists in the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain are set to receive cash incentives from the government in recognition of their triumphant campaign.
As stated in the law under Republic Act No. 10699, gold medalists will receive P500,000 while silver and bronze medalists will get P300,000 and P100,000, respectively.
Jan Brix Ramiscal will take home the biggest individual reward with a silver in the boys’ wai kru 16-17 (P300,000) and a share of the gold with Tyron Jamborillo in the boys’ mixed team mai muay (P250,000).
The Philippines had a 24-medal haul in the continental showpiece, highlighted by seven golds, seven silvers, and 10 bronzes as the country finished 12th overall.
In addition, these athletes are also reportedly receiving units of Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max for the gold medalists and iPhone 17 for the silver and bronze medalists from a private company.
The Philippine Olympic Committee, meanwhile, pledged to give the medalists half the monetary value of the government-mandated incentives.
