Yulo captures vault gold at world championships
Metro Manila, Philippines - Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo showed to the world once again his top form after winning the gold medal in the men’s vault final at the 2025 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Yulo, an Olympic gold medalist in vault, scored an average 14.866 to dominate the apparatus at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta on Saturday, Oct. 25.
His final performance featured a piked Dragulescu that tallied 15.2 points and a handspring front 2.5 twist that got 14.533 points.
Armenia’s Artur Davtyan, the 2022 champion, bagged the silver medal with an average score of 14.833. Completing the podium was Ukraine’s Nazar Chepurnyi, who had an average score of 14.483 to clinch bronze.
The three athletes were part of the 2024 Paris Olympic final showdown on vault, with Yulo capturing gold and Davtyan the silver.
On Friday, Yulo emerged as the bronze medalist in the men’ floor exercise during this year’s world championships.
The 25-year-old Manila native will skip the 2025 Southeast Asian Games slated in Thailand in December, according to media reports.
