‘Truly an honor’: Kathryn Bernardo to get Madame Tussauds wax figure
Metro Manila, Philippines - Filipino actress Kathryn Bernardo will have a wax figure in Madame Tussauds museum attraction, something that she treats as an honor and a full circle moment to her career.
Bernardo’s wax figure will be showcased at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong in 2026, the museum announced on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
She is the fifth Filipino celebrity to have a wax figure after Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, actress host Anne Curtis, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, and boxing legend Manny Pacquiao.
Broadway star Lea Salonga has her wax figure at Madame Tussauds Singapore.
In a video posted by management agency Star Magic, Bernardo said having her own wax figure was “truly an honor.”
The 29-year-old said that she might have flashbacks on her journey in acting, which began at the age of six, once the wax figure is unveiled next year.
“‘Yung proseso na pinagdaanan mo to deserve that, you know, wax figure, very humbling tapos full circle moment din siya for me,” the actress said.
[Translation: The process that I went through to deserve that wax figure, it’s very humbling and it’s a full circle moment for me.]
“I used to line up there, buy [a] ticket…like when I was a kid, I just want to go there and meet my idol and I want to experience Madame Tussauds,” she said.
“But now, you get to be part of it so isn’t that so surreal?” she added.
Bernardo hopes her father will be proud when he sees the wax figure, as only her mother knows of it at the time of the interview.
She said this as an invitation to the country: “Take your photos and something na maipagmamalaki nating mga Pilipino. Thank you for making this possible and I’m excited for you guys to see it and to experience it.”
Bernardo is a multi-nominated and awarded actress, who has starred in three of the highest-grossing Filipino films of all time: “The Hows of Us” in 2018, “Hello, Love, Goodbye” in 2019, and “Hello, Love, Again” in 2024.
