Metro Manila, Philippines - Eleven areas in Luzon, including parts of Metro Manila, remained under Signal No. 2 as Tropical Storm Ramil was about to exit Luzon’s landmass on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 19.

“Ramil” was last seen in the vicinity of Olongapo City, Zambales, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

In its 2 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Ramil” will continue to cross Central Luzon, emerge over the coastal waters of Zambales on Sunday afternoon, and leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Monday.

PAGASA raised the following storm alerts:

Signal No. 2 - The central and southern portions of Benguet, the central and southern portions of La Union, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, the northern portion of Bataan, the northern and central portions of Metro Manila, and the northern and western portions of Rizal.

Signal No. 1 - Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, the rest of Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, the rest of La Union, Aurora, the rest of Bataan, the rest of Metro Manila, Quezon including Polillo Islands, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, the rest of Rizal, Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Islands, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Camarines Norte, the western portion of Camarines Sur, and Burias Island

Heavy rainfall will be experienced across Luzon, but up to 200 millimeters of rain may be dumped over Isabela, Aurora, Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Batangas.

The storm surge alert was lifted in some areas and remained over coastal towns of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Batangas, Cavite, and Occidental Mindoro.

Over 22,000 people, mostly from the Bicol region, were preemptively evacuated due to Ramil, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported Sunday.
