Metro Manila, Philippines – Government workers will receive their year-end bonus and cash gifts earlier than expected, as the Department of Budget and Management ordered its release on the first payroll of Nov. 2024.

In a statement, the budget department said it amended a section in the Budget Circular No. 2016-4, which said bonuses and cash gifts shall be given not earlier than Nov. 15 of the current year.

The year-end bonus is equivalent to one month of basic pay as of Oct. 31, while the cash gift stands at P5,000.

The agency said the order was amended because of delays being experienced by government workers in receiving their bonuses, “affecting their morale, motivation, and level of job satisfaction”.

“The streamlining process of each agency will mitigate the internal and external cause of delay in the payment of benefits. A streamlined process will increase productivity and efficiency, ensuring that the year-end bonus and cash gift will be granted on schedule,” the DBM said.

The department then instructed agencies to carry out necessary adjustments in their payroll systems to prevent delays.
