2 Filipinos injured in Riyadh airport attack placed in ICU — DMW

Metro Manila, Philippines — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said two Filipinos were injured and admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) at a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, following an attack on Saturday, Oct. 10.

DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac said the department and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) are closely monitoring the condition of the two Filipinos.

“As of 11 a.m. today PHL time, two Filipinos are in Riyadh hospital ICUs, recovering from their injuries as a result of yesterday’s attacks on King Khalid International Airport. Our MWO-OWWA teams are monitoring their situation,” Cacdac said in a post on X on Sunday.

The DMW has yet to disclose further details about the condition of the Filipinos injured in the attack.

In a separate post, the DMW released emergency hotline numbers for Filipinos who may need assistance in Saudi Arabia.

The agency also advised overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the Gulf states to remain calm and vigilant and follow official directives from local authorities.

“Pinapayuhan ang lahat ng OFW na manatiling kalmado, alerto, at mapagmatyag, at sundin ang mga opisyal na abiso at tagubiling pangkaligtasan ng mga lokal na awtoridad,” the DMW said.

[Translation: All OFWs are advised to remain calm, alert, and vigilant, and to follow official advisories and safety instructions from local authorities.]

The attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, reportedly carried out by Yemen-based Houthi forces, killed at least 12 people and injured 309 others, according to Saudi Arabian civil aviation authorities.
