Metro Manila, Philippines – More than 66,000 students, faculty members, and campus stakeholders across 23 academic institutions nationwide now enjoy faster, safer, and more convenient access to digital financial services through LANDBANK’s Cash-Lite Campus Initiative, helping young Filipinos build financial skills and manage money more effectively.
Since its launch in April 2025, the program has introduced students to practical digital banking tools that make everyday transactions easier, from opening bank accounts through a mobile phone to paying school fees online. The initiative also benefits campus food vendors, micro-merchants, and transport providers by connecting them to formal banking services, expanding economic opportunities and promoting financial inclusion within school communities.
“LANDBANK’s Cash-Lite Campus program goes beyond making payments easier. It gives students and campus entrepreneurs practical financial tools for managing their everyday transactions. By introducing digital banking early, we help young Filipinos build responsible financial habits and prepare for an increasingly digital economy,” said LANDBANK President and CEO Lynette Ortiz.
To make banking more accessible to students, the initiative promotes the LANDBANK Mobile Banking App (MBA) and the LANDBANK PISO Plus account, which can be opened through a mobile phone without an initial deposit or maintaining balance. Schools can also use Link.BizPortal, LANDBANK’s online payment platform, to accept tuition and other fees, reducing the need for over-the-counter transactions.
The program has been rolled out across various campuses of the University of the Philippines, the University of Makati, Central Luzon State University, Nueva Vizcaya State University, Southern Leyte State University, Central Mindanao University, and other state universities and colleges.
In one of its recent campus rollouts, LANDBANK brought the initiative to Western Mindanao State University in Zamboanga City, where students participated in interactive missions and financial literacy sessions on digital banking safety, budgeting, and cyber hygiene to help them make informed and secure financial decisions.
“Opening an account through the LANDBANK MBA is very convenient because I no longer have to visit a branch. In just a few minutes, I can open and start using my account. It also helps me monitor my expenses, manage my budget, and transact more safely and conveniently,” said WMSU student Shieha Malon.
LANDBANK’s digital transformation efforts have also gained international recognition. The International Finance Awards named the Bank the Fastest Growing Digital Banking Services in the Philippines for 2026, citing its commitment to secure, accessible, and customer-centered digital banking solutions.
Through the Cash-Lite Campus Initiative, LANDBANK is helping shape a new generation of financially empowered Filipinos by bringing digital banking and financial education directly to campuses. By promoting safer transactions, accessible banking services, and responsible money management, the program equips students with essential life skills.
