Metro Manila, Philippines – A tropical depression is unlikely to make landfall, but rains and strong winds from the southwest monsoon will continue in parts of the country, the weather bureau said Tuesday, Aug. 18.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low pressure area east of extreme northern Luzon is now Tropical Depression Neneng.
As of 4 p.m., #NenengPH was 1,025 kilometers off the northeast with winds of up to 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 55 kph.
PAGASA said its strong winds extend up to 380 kilometers from the center.
It said the storm will remain a tropical depression until it weakens approaching Taiwan on Thursday, Aug. 20.
