PBA legend Alvin Patrimonio part of UST Tigers’ training staff

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers bolstered their training staff as they seek to improve their chances in the coming University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) season.

No less than Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) legend Alvin Patrimonio joined the Tigers’ training staff, according to a report by the university’s official student publication, The Varsitarian.

“Nakikita ko na gusto talaga nilang mag-improve,” the four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) said in the report.

Patrimonio filled in the void left by Estong Ballesteros, who resigned from his post as UST’s big man coach in December last year after the team got the boot.

Tigers’ head coach Bong dela Cruz clarified Patrimonio’s role in the team, saying: “Hindi ko masasabing official kasi may commitment siya sa Purefoods pero part siya ng team. Napakalaking tulong niya.”
