Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Vice President Jejomar Binay hopes that the 2016 elections would be clean, honest, and credible.
This was his reaction when asked to comment on the plan of President Benigno Aquino III to endorse the presidential bid of Interior Secretary Manuel Roxas II.
He made the statement on the sidelines of the 9th Annual Asia Pacific Information Security Leadership Achievements Ceremony, which was held on Tuesday (July 29) at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay.
Binay refused to elaborate on this.
In earlier statements, however, Binay claimed that the only way for Roxas to win the elections would be to cheat and buy votes.
And yet, he said Roxas would not be a threat to his candidacy, considering that Roxas was trailing behind him and Sen. Grace Poe in pre-election presidential surveys.
Binay said he hoped the elections in 2016 would be based on platforms.
