Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — How will Mark Caguioa thrive under new Barangay Ginebra San Miguel coach Tim Cone’s triangle system?
That’s the first question that came to mind following Cone’s transfer to Ginebra from the Star Hotshots, the team he led to five titles including a Grand Slam in Season 39 of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

But veteran point guard LA Tenorio, who once played for Cone’s vaunted offense at Alaska, said there’s not much to worry about.
“Nagawa nga ni coach kay James Yap, bakit hindi niya kaya gawin kay Mark?” said Tenorio.
Tenorio said Caguioa will learn more from the venerable coach who holds the most number of titles with 18 under his belt.
“I’m excited for Mark kasi I’m sure mas marami pa siya matututunan kay coach Tim,” he said.
“It’s not too late for him to learn the triangle. I know ilalabas ni coach laro niya kasi siya ang focal point ng team namin.”
He added, “Kahit anong sabihin natin si Mark Caguioa pa rin yan. I know coach has a plan for him already.”
As for the team, Tenorio said it needs to have loads of patience as it learns the intricacies of the triangle system.
“Mahabang pasensya ang kailangan ng team,” he said.
“Yung triangle ni coach Tim is deep talaga so hindi magiging madali for the team. It’s gonna be a long road for us. Alam naman rin siguro ni coach yan.”
