CNN Philippines ‘Traffic Center’ debuts in June

(CNN Philippines) — Metro Manila’s motorists are set to gain access to the metropolis’ most comprehensive source of traffic intelligence. Beginning June 1, CNN Philippines anchors Claudine Trillo and Menchu Macapagal will deliver real time updates of Metro Manila’s traffic situation through CNN Philippines’ Traffic Center.

A collaboration between the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Manila city government, CNN Philippines, and community-based traffic and navigation app Waze, the show draws on the expertise of both the private and public sector.

Live feed from the MMDA’s network of CCTV cameras will be streamed through the CNN Philippines’ show. Traffic Center will also provide updates on road closures, repairs, reblocking, and flood. CNN Philippines’ reporters will also deliver live coverage from the field.

Waze, on the other hand, provides traffic metrics through crowd-sourced information. The app delivers relevant data such as the average speed of cars in thoroughfares as well as real-time updates of accidents or road blocks.

Waze has also organized a CNN Philippines traffic community. Smartphones users are free to join the group through their app, and contribute to the network’s traffic intelligence.

The network has also partnered with the SLEX, NLEX, Cavitex, and Star Tollways.

CNN Philippines Traffic Center will air from Mondays to Fridays, 6:30 to 7:00 AM, and 5:45 to 6:00 PM. The show will also be featured on Updates from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
