Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, July 29) — The search for missing passengers of the boat that capsized off Binangonan, Rizal may be halted on Sunday, just a few days after the tragedy struck.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said the operations will stop if there are no more families looking for victims.
\”Maaring ang termination ay bukas, pero depende pa sa gagawing recommendation ng ground commander na in-charge doon sa incident,\” PCG spokesperson Rear Admiral Armand Balilo told CNN Philippines.
[Translation: The termination may be tomorrow, but it still depends on the recommendation of the ground commander in charge on the incident.]
Balilo added that rescuers had a hard time conducting the search due to bad weather and murky waters.
M/B Princess Aya left Binangonan at around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday en route to Barangay Gulod on Talim Island. The overloaded boat sank 45 minutes away from its destination.
The incident left 27 people dead while 43 others survived.
