Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 12) – The current nearly full digitalization of services will hasten trade between local and United States-based businesses, the customs bureau said on Friday.
In a statement Friday, the bureau said Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio held discussions with American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines Executive Director Ebb Hinchliffe about issues including trade procedures and border control measures affecting US and Philippine businesses.
\”The discussion aimed to address concerns and ensure that goods entering and exiting the country are compliant and secure,\” the agency said.
Rubio said given the bureau’s aggressive digital push, 96.39% of its processes have been upgraded.
\”[This] has expedited the processing of shipments while simplifying and securing the facilitation of trade,\” the BOC said.
The BOC earlier said that pursuing digital shift in its system would not just improve the facilitation of trade, but also curb corruption.
