
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 24) — The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 3,148 new COVID-19 cases during the week of April 17 to 23.
In its weekly bulletin, the DOH said an average of 450 cases were logged daily.The latest tally reflected a 32% increase from the previous week.Of the new cases, the DOH said 14 are severe and critical infections.A total of 345 patients in severe and critical condition are in hospitals, representing 8.7% of the total COVID-19 admissions nationwide.Health officials also verified five deaths due to COVID-19.As of April 24, the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country is at over 4.08 million, with 4,336 active cases. Around 4.01 million recovered while 66,444 died.The DOH said more than 78 million people, or all of the target population, have been vaccinated against COVID-19, including 23 million with booster shots.
Meanwhile, 7.1 million senior citizens, or 82.16% of the target A2 population, have received their primary series.
