Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 30) –The Disney Cruise Line will make its way to Southeast Asia in 2025 as the company closed a deal with the Singapore Tourism Board.
In a joint statement on Wednesday, the cruise line operator and the Singapore tourism authority said they are elated with the “important milestone” as The Walt Disney Company marks its 100th year this 2023.
“We are incredibly excited to make Singapore the home port to our seventh-launched ship, which will sail from here year-round starting in 2025,” said Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.
“The new Disney cruise ship will be an attraction itself and is expected to boost the tourism sector in Singapore for many years to come,” Singapore Tourism Board chief executive Keith Tan noted.
According to Disney Cruise, the new ship can accommodate about 6,000 passengers with around 2,300 crew members.
“It is also expected to be among the first in the cruise industry to be fueled by green methanol, one of the lowest emission fuels available,” Disney Cruise said.
The ship will be built by Meyer Werft shipbuilding company at the MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany.
More details about the maiden voyage, itineraries and onboard experiences will be announced at a later date.
