
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 25) – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday recorded 311 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of active cases in the country to 8,621.
The latest figure represents a 44% increase from Thursday’s 137 cases logged by the DOH.
Latest data from the DOH tracker showed that as of March 24, the country had a total of 4,079,796 COVID-19 cases. Of that number, DOH logged 4,004,859 recoveries and 66,316 deaths.

The National Capital Region (NCR) recorded the highest number of infections at 1,313,258. It was followed by CALABARZON and Central Luzon at 728,854 and 401,227, respectively. During the past two weeks, NCR still topped having 637 cases followed by Davao Region with 295 cases.
Out of 24,677 available beds for COVID-19 patients, 3,967 were occupied, bringing the bed occupancy rate to 16.1%, the DOH added.
On March 17, OCTA Research group said Metro Manila has registered a slight increase in its COVID-19 positivity rate earlier this month.
OCTA Research fellow Guido David said he expects cases to increase further but not to the levels seen in 2022.
