Baguio market fire victims receive ₱1.5 million aid – DSWD

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 16) — Victims of the Baguio City public market fire last week received a total of ₱1.5 million worth of relief assistance, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Thursday.

The fire caused losses in the livelihood of at least 2,200 people, including 1,700 vendors with razed stalls and 500 vendors in the surrounding area.

The DSWD said its field office in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) initially handed out family food packs after the onset of the fire which left around ₱24 million in damage.

It added that it will be distributing ₱10,000 in financial assistance to the 1,700 market vendors.
