Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 6) — The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) on Monday said it is investigating a viral video supposedly showing “unprofessionalism” of security personnel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport while conducting pat down departure procedures on members of K-pop group ENHYPEN.
‘
“The management is currently investigating the matter to determine the extent of violation committed based on existing rules and security screening protocols, if any, and impose appropriate administrative sanctions, should it be necessary,” OTS said in a statement.
‘
“Rest assured that the OTS shall never tolerate any unprofessional behavior towards the riding public,” added the office, which is under the Department of Transportation.
‘
OTS also reminded its personnel, airport staff, and the public that filming at security checkpoints are “not allowed as a matter of policy.”
‘
The viral video, which was originally posted on TikTok, also showed that the security personnel skipped one of ENHYPEN’S members during the body search. The people, including those wearing identification cards (IDs) were also seen taking recordings of the K-pop group
‘
One netizen pointed out that the issue with the airport security personnel is that she was “not of the same sex as the passenger being screened” and “not consistent” with how she did the body check. The same netizen also stressed how the security personnel did not wear gloves during the inspection while other staff members were filming the K-pop idols.
A screenshot from a Tiktok video also circulated online. It showed that although it was already censored, the personal information of a member of ENHYPEN was recorded while being scanned by some personnel of NAIA.
‘
Earlier, ENHYPEN’S music label Belift Lab released a “Fan Etiquette Notice” where it reminded the public to “not take photographs or record video or audio except where permitted.”
