Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 25) — The state weather bureau on Monday forecasts a rainy Christmas Day over most parts of the country, citing the effects of the northeast monsoon (amihan) and easterlies, or hot air coming from the Pacific Ocean.
According to its morning briefing, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) predicted cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers over the eastern section of Luzon due to the amihan.
Meanwhile, isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are also expected over the Visayas and Mindanao due to the easterlies.
PAGASA said it does not see any low pressure area near the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The bureau’s special Christmas forecast said the same weather could be expected until New Year’s Day.
