Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 22) — Four telecommunications posts along Major Dizon Street in Marikina fell, one of them hitting a waiting shed and killing one person, Marikina City Rescue told CNN Philippines early Friday morning.
Authorities said a 10-wheeler truck pulled the hanging cables between the posts and toppled them, including the one closest to the victim – a teenager waiting for a jeepney ride home.
His father said his 16-year-old son went to Marikina Riverbanks and was supposed to return home in Quezon City when the tragedy happened.
Rescuers said they received an incident report around 11 p.m. on Thursday.
