109 Filipinos seek repatriation from Lebanon — DFA

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 24) – At least 109 Filipinos in Lebanon are now seeking to return home amid the rising tension between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Tuesday.

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega confirmed the number, a week after the Philippine embassy in Lebanon advised Filipinos living near the southern border of Lebanon to flee the area.

De Vega also urged Filipinos to go home, saying that \”it’s just a matter of time\” before the Philippine government places Lebanon under Alert Level 3, which calls for voluntary repatriation.
