Airfares to rise as fuel surcharge rate nears highest level – CAB

Metro Manila, Philippines – Airfares may increase significantly following the implementation of fuel surcharge rates at Level 19, effective April 16–30.

The Civil Aeronautics Board advised early Wednesday, April 22, that the new rates may apply to both domestic and international flights.

Under Level 19, domestic flight surcharge rates may range from P627 to P1,834.

International flight surcharge rates, meanwhile, may range from P2,070.77 to P15,397.15.

Airlines wishing to impose the fuel surcharge during the same period were advised to file their applications with the agency.

“This interim measure shall be in effect until the current situation stabilizes or as may be revised or revoked accordingly,” the agency said in an advisory.

The highest possible surcharge level is Level 20, under which domestic flight rates may range from P661 to P1,933, while international rates could range from P2,183.11 to P16,232.44.

The previous surcharge rates were at Level 8 from April 1–15 and Level 4 in March.
